Was arrested 2 years ago but got acquitted by the trial court. Can I enter Canada?
I wrongfully accused for being a drug pusher here in the Philippines. Was previously a victim of bad police work motivated. The court does not find strong evidence against me and dismissed the case and I acquitted of crime. Some people say there's a difference from being "acquitted" (insufficient evidence) and having a "not guilty" opinion (who went to trial end). Could this affect my admissibility to have a non immigrant or immigrant visa in Canada? Im just trying to ensure that about it for the U.S. even if your not convicted but if you have apprehension about crime involving moral turpitude (case drugs, prostitution), you are given a 50/50 chance of getting a U.S. visa. I'm not too sure if this also happened to getting a Canadian Visa. Guys I was not convicted.
Yes may have an impact. Canada is very picky about the kind of things. If you cross the border and things are in your name they will kick you out or maybe send you to prison in Canada. If I were you I would contact a canadian customs officer before the border crossing to make sure you are clear. A program you can do to clear your name if you have issues. But I would really call before going! Canada's laws and regulations are different then the U.S.. The people that the answer to this question can you answer a correct answer based on U.S. law but I do believe they know the cause of the rules and laws are different in Canada. I go there all the time that the reason I drive a truck.
