People from Mindanao dont you hate it when?
People especially the media thinks all places in Mindanao are dangerous. Seriously when people ask me where im from and i tell them im from Cagayan de oro but grew up in Butuan city and they tell me if i see shootings everyday grrrrr...I am more scared walking in Los angeles at night than in Cagayan or butuan..
Come to think of it there are more crimes in manila or cebu than butuan or cagayan de oro...You hear more bad news happening in Manila than cagayan/butuan.. I lived in Cebu for 1 yr and walking around Urgello or Pasil scare the bejesus out of me.
but there is no bombing in butuan LOL or Cagayan. I just hate it bec people generalize mindanao

why hate it when you can say you are battle scarred and accustomed to seeing guns and men in uniforms of different armies and you know how to handle different weapons yourself.

and yeah, I know what you mean. It's like a small town when there's always trouble at the end of it and people may think it's the whole town.
And even in provinces where there are always low intensity conflicts, it's mostly in the mountains.
And true ,the part of your area is quite peaceful. But people I personally know from such areas used the issues of conflicts positively so that they are not easily bullied out of their familiar circles, though for tourism, it really is a bad propaganda. I bet you are still too young to understand such situations I have stated earlier. But it's true.
