Knowledge Process Outsourcing in the Philippines
The advent of Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) is believed to be a by-product of the flourishing BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industry. As BPO continues to grow globally, they then create a copy but with a hint of sophistication. While BPO is all about customer support and data encoding, KPO requires a more thorough and knowledgeable approach. Knowledge Process Outsourcing is a "higher, more complex and more mature" form of business process outsourcing which entails intellectual ability, analytical skills and expertise of the workforce. workforce includes professionals and scholars from various fields such as legal, engineering, marketing, research, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and education to qualified and experienced enough to do the task. Service providers from different countries offer different services. Each of these countries trying to create a particular skill section. KPO companies in the Philippines established success in the field of animation and content development while Russia wants to be a ground for medical outsourcing and technology-related that KPOs. Whereas, India remains the top destination for KPO due to its multi-service environment BPO to cater to different segments.
However, in the Philippines exudes a considerable amount of potential. It has proven to be one of the leading countries to dominate the growing industry incessantly when Manila, the capital, was hailed as the second top BPO destination in Asia-Pacific region by International Data Corporation in 2008. In the same year, it also garnered "offshoring Destination of the Year "title by the United Kingdom's National Outsourcing Association. Furthermore, three of his city, Quezon City, cebu and Davao ranked 7th, 8th and 10th, the "Top Ten Asian Cities of the Future" survey conducted by the London Financial Times.
Besides that, the Philippine government will continue to support the expanding needs of industry by providing reliable infrastructures. Even India can make 441 000, the technical related graduates and nearly 2.3 million graduates every year, the Philippines is not lagging behind in terms of labor force. The Philippines produces approximately 450,000 graduates annually and was able to build nearly 56,000 engineering and IT-related graduates, where the Government is expected to grow 20% by 2012. From statistics gathered by Professional Regulation Board, the country has more than 2,000,000 licensed professional in 2006. It includes more than 70,000 engineers, 16,000 architects, 100,000 accountants, 95,000 more than 40,000 physicians and medical technologists.
Having mentioned all of the potential, it is high time for the Philippines above belong to countries that can compete with Russia, China and India in providing professionals in various fields and services. It is a challenge for government the Philippines to provide qualified personnel, reliable infrastructures and other requirements posed by overseas clients. Its success in expanding its jurisdiction KPO industry will depend on how they can cope with changing market needs.
