Where is the best low cost, kick-back, island in the Philippines?
I am going to the Philippines and want to know that somewhere is simple, cheap and relaxing. I want bungalo or something close to a beach, without a bunch of tourists, but it is safe. Any ideas on a location and place to stay?
From past experience, I would like to recommend the island of Siquijor, the Central Visayas. If you enter the Philippines in Manila, take a flight from there in Dumaguete, with either Air Philippines or cebu Pacific. Once there, take one of Delta Fast Ferries in Siquijor Town. This is one of the safest island in the Philippines, very laid back and relaxing. A good place to get information is mysiquijor.com, run by Gary Harrison, who visits the area often. Have plenty pictures of the island you can see. I was there in early March of 2005 my brother. There are many different places to choose from. I stayed 3 night in Coral Cay Resort, on the west side of the island. They are comfortable, spacious cottages overlooking the sea, with no aircon rate ranging from U.S. $ 14 to U.S. $ 26. They have great food and the sunsets are absolutely amazing.
