Travel in the Philippines ... what to expect?
I Philippine descent and planning a trip. First of Manila, then to Kalibo. If I bring my laptop and cell phone to me it is work there? I know they have the same internet (AOL, etc.) there. I have a Wireless card that I can use for the Internet but it still work over there? It is from Verizon. Do you think I will have good reception? Do they both spark flies that the U.S. is? Should I buy an adapter outlet plug? Basically I have to talk back to us while I'm in the Philippines for 2 weeks. Also, how long it takes to travel that far? I say leave Monday .. I came in Monday? or Mar? or married? How long does it take to return? ... I came the same day? Thanks
you can buy a wireless card usb smart or from the world so the internet works, could cost $ 20 to $ 40, then pay for internet time by the minute, same thing with cell phones, international roaming fees are too high, so it is better to get a new SIM card to slide into your phone, including a local phone number in the Philippines, and then you pay for minutes, and you get a bunch of free text messages, the reason Filipinos why so much text. you 'minute load' on to your phone by buying a scratch off card in the local sari sari store, or just about the Anyplace. Your charger should work with most of the more modern places with the same kind of U.S. style 2 or 3 prong plug, it is 220 volts, but most modern adapters 110-220 to escape so it should be ok. try not to use any electronic device 110 that does not have an adapter that says the 220 + plug. by by far the best way to call from USA Philppines is through Skype or other VOIP, just get a headset for your laptop, you can call any where in the USA as long as you want for about $ 3 a month. lgoing in manila, leave Monday arrived Tuesday. coming back, you arrived a few minutes before you leave the same day .. depending on how long and where your flight connects ..
