Spanish-American war question?
Can anyone please help me with my homework regardgin the Spanish American war. How did the resistance in the Philippines affect the war in Cuba? What is the importance of teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders in the American war effort?
The American destroyed the Spanish fleet in Manila Bay. As a result, fast, and the Spanish troops in the Philippines were unable to supply and tactical support to the Spanish troops in Cuba and Puerto Rico. The Rough Riders were a volunteer cavalry unit together by former undersecretary of the Navy Theodore Roosevelt. The Rough Riders came from a very broad cross-section spectrum of America - everything from New York blue bloods in New Mexico cowboys and Indian War. The Rough Riders and Buffalo Soldiers captured San Juan Heights, which gave them unopposed a clear path to Spanish troops in Santiago. The Spanish troops capitulated soon after.
