Is the nationalisation of the Philippine language Tagalog ever achieve its purpose?
If it is, then how come just about everything things are in English? At times when I watch news in the Philippines and they enterviewing individual, I noticed the widespread English words in conversation. Did the government really hope to people living in remote areas to learn how to speak Tagalog only when they are much surrounded by nothing but English? I was riding a train once in Iloilo and noticed a warning sign in Tagalog but right below it is the translation in English. I know three dialects, Tagalog, Ilongo and Cite (Zamboanga). I do not understand the quantity of deep Tagalog used by the news media.
Yeah, it did. English is an international language that can used as an excellent tool industry business and everything else. No one can deny that. Personally, I think speaking in English as a Filipino is considered being patriotic. In a country where one must rely on the English language as a tool of survival and success, certain It helps our economy. But I agree with you about the widespread English. It is well it makes the times, really. But we fully understand each one still. And you are lucky to even understand some other dialects because I can only understand Tagalog and English.
