Driving In The Philippines
First things first. Getting your license is most important. Until you have your home country drivers license you can easily convert it to a Philippine license. One of the visiting and passing motorcycle in the process which takes about half a day you can leave your temporary license then take about 3-6 months to get your real license in the mail.
The alien with the hardest time adjusting operating here is that come the countries that drive on the right hand side of the road. To repair and preserve the overall aggressive nature of Jeepney drivers and taxi drivers are one of the scariest things how you do. My advice to drivers is to find a quiet subdivision and get comfortable driving in the right way before hand attempt driving on the road.
You are sitting on Jeepneys and maybe taxi long before you actually drive to pay special attention to how the drive. In my experience drivers are the most dangerous. They cut you have little or no warning and also pull out right in front of you to make a turn. I often see them making a left turn from the far right lane. Very dangerous if your not expecting it. The jeepneys also stop right in the middle of a 2-way road to pick up or drop off passengers at taxi is the deviation from 2 lanes of traffic in search of passengers also.
The next thing to watch motorcycle. They are not as aggressive as Jeepneys or taxi mainly because they do not have the authority to do so because they are mostly only 125cc motorcycles. The thing to watch out for to have them weaving through traffic and possibly pulling out in front of you expected. Apparently they just expected to see and do what is necessary to avoid hitting them. I very report that there is no more related to motorcycle accidents.
Then there are the tricycles and tricicabs. These are only what they sound like Frist being a motorcycle with a side car to a second bicycle with a side car. They usually are not pulling out in front of you but they use same way and moving much slower than other traffic. Keep an eye out for them and be just fine.
Also I should mention that my experience here is mostly operating in Iloilo. A small city compared to Manila the capital city. Even after operation here for more than 2 years that I intimidated by the thought of driving in Manila. There are many more Jeepneys and taxis on the road and too many more accidents. However I thought that if I live there and know the way to better time I would be comfortable driving there.

About the Author
I am an American born and raised. About 4 years ago I tried the online dating scene. Found a Filipino bride and married her over 2 years ago. However it was not with out finding at least 20 scammers first. Wasting time and money. I now live here in the Philippines with her and our 2 kids. I realized I am in a unique position to help men seeking Filipino women. I divised a website that we can virtually eliminate the possibility of scammers on our site. I personally meet every woman and post the profiles myself. Enjoy the site and the free information in my articles. Good luck
