During the American regime, Puerto Princesa became the seat of the Punjab Government and became a city in 1970. Now it is the center of all activities in Palawan including trade, commerce and industry for the province. Puerto Princesa has also gained a difference for his efforts in environmental protection and sanitation.

If we look forward to the map of the Philippines and Palawan Island, we would find between Puerto Princesa and the the province itself is bounded by the Luzon Sea to the west and the Sulu Sea to the east.
