Need help with World War II essay ... about the liberation of the Philippines?

Can someone please explain briefly what the liberation the Philippines is and why it is essentially an integral part of WWII?! Thanks!

We were kicked out of the Philippines by the Japanese, MacArthur swore to return and in fact he did. However, what you mean by release? The Philippines was an American colony when it was taken, so it is not liberated, only retaken from the Japanese. None of the Philippines, we have no chance of defeating the Japanese in World War II. In the Pacific Theater, we developed the "island hopping" or strategy to fight the Japanese forcefully off each island they took, because they are the only thing holding us from the open sea coverage. Our naval and air power required to control both included in order to choke off the Japanese from sending supplies to their island fortresses. We need to fight each island off mainly to rid it from the sea and took them to bases they attacked from us. We also need to get closer to Japan and develop air bases in the islands. For example, Iwo Jima was a bloody battle between U.S. and Japanese. The fact that the island is near the Japanese home islands gave us and open a direct link to bombing them into submission. The Philippines gave us a great base from which to ship people, supplies, and based warships to patrol the Pacific and protect our fleets as they launched attacks against the remaining islands under Japanese control.
