Tinikling, Carinosa or …?
May seem an on-going debate about the Philippines where the dance should be considered as a national dance. It is Tinikling used. Now, they changed it to Carinosa. Which in your opinion should the national dance of the Philippines? Tinikling or Carinosa? Or you have other suggestions?
I'd like Tinikling. At least even with our brothers from Mindanao can identify with it because their Singkil. If you can ask me what other folk dance that can suggest to become a national dance, be Pandanggo. There are many variations Pandanggo, and variations should not be declared national dances … variatioins of Pandanggo is Carinosa, Pandanggo of light (Mindoro), Pandanggo of light (Pangasinan), Obando Fertility Rites, Caracol, Pandanguhan in Makati …. I not against Carinosa, except if they presented it as a national dance, it should not dance to the choreography …. The dance is a Carinosa Pandanggo.
